Girls-only hockey.

At Leeds Jr Knights, we believe every young player should have the opportunity to enjoy hockey, compete confidently and develop in an environment where they feel they belong.

While all our other junior teams are co-ed, our U16 Girls programme provides a girls-only playing environment for players from their 10th birthday and runs through birth year 2011 (for the 26-27 season).

For many girls, particularly through their teenage years, having a team where they can train, compete and develop alongside other girls can make a huge difference - helping them stay active, stay involved and continue enjoying competitive sport.

💙 A team of their own

Players in our U16 Girls Programme train alongside their peers across the club. Many also play in our co-ed teams.

Our girls compete in the U16 Girls North Division, playing against other girls' programmes from across the region.

It's a chance to:

❤️ Stay involved in competitive sport through their teenage years

For some players, the girls' programme becomes the reason they keep playing hockey when they might otherwise have stepped away from competitive sport.

🌍 International hockey

Our girls' programme has already helped produce players who have gone on to represent England Girls and GB Women in international competition.

That's something we're incredibly proud of and it demonstrates the opportunities that can grow from a strong junior hockey foundation.

🚀 Pathway to senior women’s hockey

The journey doesn't have to end when players reach the top of the U16 age group.

Girls are eligible to play senior women's hockey from their 14th birthday, giving talented and ambitious players the opportunity to challenge themselves against older, more experienced players while continuing their development.

Leeds Jr Knights also has strong connections with local women's teams, providing a valuable pathway into senior women's hockey.
